Character Creation

Your character matters. NYTE City might not notice their passing, but the table does. Character creation asks you to bring someone into being, define who they were, and decide who they might become.

Character Creation takes time. Pause when you need to. Nothing locks in until you're ready.

The general flow

1. Determine the Campaign Power Level with your GM.
2. Decide who you want to be in NYTE City.
3. Roll for your Stat Points and assign your Base Stats — this represents the person you were before power found you.
4. Choose your Archetype — the pivot that sharpens who you are becoming.
5. Build your character's history: what shaped them? What do they owe, fear, or want?
6. Allocate Skill Points to reflect your training and expertise.
7. Spend Character Points on Advantages, Disadvantages, and powers. Allocate any remaining points.

What a character is

The character you create is your life in NYTE City. You decide what they do, what they say, and how they respond when the world pushes back. They can be anyone — a new name, a new history, a version of yourself with different scars. The only requirement is that you commit to them fully. NYTE City changes people. The character you start with won't be the one you end up with.

Stats, and the shape of a person

You'll roll dice to see how many points you have to spend across eight core Stats — Body, Reflexes, Mobility, Intelligence, Tech, Cool, Magnetism, and Empathy — which set your starting point as a Human, before you pivot down an Archetype path. Push a Stat well above average and you're exceptional at it; let one slide too far and the city makes you pay for it. Three more Attributes — Tolerance, Will, and Sanity — get calculated from there, measuring how much strain you can take before something in you gives out.
